Don't Wait Till Q3 to Make Sure Your Kronos Suite is Flash-free: Here's Why

The countdown to the end of Adobe Flash is ticking fast. Businesses now have just 11 months to get their technology stack in order (including workforce management solutions) before Adobe puts Flash to bed for good. Is your team fully prepared for this change? Procrastination could put you in a serious bind by the time Q3 hits.

Should You Be Concerned?

Many Kronos customers may already be prepared for their Flash-free future—at least as far as their workforce management is concerned. For those that aren't, the transition will be different depending on which suite version you're operating.

  1. Kronos Workforce Central 8.1.2 and earlier: You've got work to do! You may lose functionality from Flash's discontinuation. Upgrading to Workforce Central 8.1.3 may be the most straightforward option (especially given the short timeline to implement and on-board your teams), though you may find now is also an opportunity to jump ahead to Workforce Dimensions. Compare the merits of each option here. The further back your version, the greater the adjustment may be (but for the better, when all is said and done).
  2. Kronos Workforce Central 8.1.3 or after: No worries! Service Pack 3 ushered your Workforce Central solution into the Flash-free future. You're in good shape.
  3. Kronos Workforce Ready: You're good to go! Perks of using a cloud-based Kronos solution.
  4. Kronos Workforce Dimensions: You're already ahead of the game. Dimensions was built Flash-free from the start, using mobile-friendly HTML5 in its place.

Beat the Q3 Rush

As the end of the year draws closer, more businesses will realize the risks they run by not upgrading or migrating before Flash is rendered obsolete. By Q3, the competition to secure upgrade support will be intense. Stragglers will all be vying for individual attention. Stress will run high, and patience will run thin.

More importantly, Q3 gives little time for internal teams to prepare. It takes a lot of effort to build up to a transition like this, especially if you want the new system to reflect your needs right off the bat. Employees and their managers need a preface on what is to come, on what will change between this and the platform they are already familiar with, and specific reasons why the new system will be an improvement for their work experience (beyond just the elimination of Flash). Not to mention, any additional training following the implementation.
